Poetry Night ft. Joy Priest

We're back with another open mic, hosted by The Unspoken Word. This month, we're meeting at Footlight Players on Queen Street.

Bring a poem. A song. A monologue. An interpretive dance. Just keep it around five minutes. Sign up starts at 6:50pm & the show kicks off at 7:02pm.

Our feature this month is the illustrious Joy Priest!

JOY PRIEST grew up across the street from the world's most famous horse-racing track. She is the recipient of the 2018 Gregory Pardlo Fellowship at The Frost Place, the 2016 Hurston/Wright Foundation's College Writers' Award, and support from the Bread Loaf Writers' Conference and the Fine Arts Work Center at Provincetown.
She is formerly an associate poetry editor for Narrative Magazine, and senior editor emerita at Yemassee Journal. Her poems have appeared or are upcoming in Blackbird, Callaloo, Four Way Review, The Rumpus, Best New Poets 2014, Best New Poets 2016, and The Breakbeat Poets.

Don't miss this night. Joy is an impressive word-wrangler. You can learn more about her & read some of her published work here: http://www.joypriest.com/

See you there? Bring your friends! Bring your grandma! Bring your Blue Apron delivery person! Bring your lifeguard! Bring that one guy from Chipotle you see but don't actually talk to although you're kinda friends from middle school but you've had a kind of awkward falling out because neither of you kept in touch but you're sure you could reconnect if you just spent time reacquainting with one another.
